Karakansky-Zapadny Mine Celebrates Producing 27-Millionth Tonne of Coal

On July 30, the anniversary of the CJSC Belovskaya Mine, its workers produced Karakansky-Zapadny open pit’s 27-millionth tonne of coal. Komatsu Crawler Excavator РС- 1250 operator Sergey Melentyev extracted the millionth tonne. 

CJSC Belovskaya Mine, LCC Karakan Invest’s major mine, has entered the top-five list of Russian Kuzbass region’s largest long-flame coal mines and has become the eighth largest enterprise of the type in the country since the start of its operation eight years ago. Karakan Invest’s output totaled 4.43 million tonnes per year in 2017. Considering the capacity of the new Yevtinskiy Perspectivniy area, Karakan Invest’s output is forecast to reach seven million tonnes by 2021. 

Over the past eight years, CJSC Belovskaya Mine has been among the leading enterprises in Kuzbass region and Russia regarding the net cost of the products, labor productivity per person and salary level. Over 1000 jobs have been created, 3.6 billion rubles have been paid in taxes including 1.5 billion transferred to the regional budget. Some 500 billion rubles have been contributed to the development of Kemerovo region’s social programs and projects.
