KARAKAN INVEST PUTS INTO OPERATION NEW DRILLING RIG
16.04.2018

A new drilling rig dubbed EPIROC DML-1200 has been delivered to CJSC Belovskaya Mine, located in Russia’s coal-producing heartland, Kemerovo region. The move is part of LLC Karakan Invest’s program, aimed at technical upgrade of the mining plant.

The drill wells reach 200-216 mm in diameter and 45 meters in depth. The capacity of the drill rig is 850-1100 linear meters per day, depending on the rocks’ category. The rig is equipped with the latest systems, designed to control and manage the drilling, which allows choice of the optimal drilling mode. Besides, the rig is equipped with a spacious cabin and electro-hydraulic control system, which ensures easy management process for drillers. The rig is to be put into operation in late April with the investments in the project implementation amounting to 90 million rubles.

The drilling rig is set to operate at the Karakansky-Zapadny opencast соal mine at first and then it will move on to the newly established Yevtinskiy Perspectivniy mine, which will make it possible for Karakan Invest to avoid dealing with contractors while drilling wells.

«The purchase of the new [drilling] rig will enable us to increase the drilling productivity and improve the enterprise’s efficiency in general, especially ahead of launching coal production at the new Yevtinskiy Perspectivniy opencast mine,» Alexey Vorobyev, the chief engineer at Belovskaya Mine, said.
